SPANISH ENRICHMENT
Spanish at SJS is a vibrant enrichment program that introduces students to language, culture, and global awareness. Students in Grades K–5 participate in engaging, developmentally-appropriate Spanish lessons built around themed units and authentic learning experiences.
Our curriculum follows the national standards set by the American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages (ACTFL), focusing on the five “C” goal areas:
-
Communication – building foundational speaking and listening skills
-
Cultures – exploring traditions, celebrations, and perspectives
-
Connections – linking Spanish learning to other subject areas
-
Comparisons – deepening understanding of language structures
-
Communities – recognizing the role of Spanish in our local and global world
Students learn essential vocabulary such as colors, numbers, and days of the week, while also developing broader skills that support academic growth, cultural appreciation, and confidence as global citizens.
At SJS, Spanish is more than a class—it’s an invitation to explore the world.
