This is an exciting program for our 6th grade students, but it is also time for a different type of educational experience. As introduced, Outdoor Education is just that, education. It is an opportunity to study the environment in an outdoor setting. This 4 day camp offers a variety of activities to study nature. Naturalists who have degrees in this area of study teach it. They are well educated and informed.
This program is highly structured and well disciplined. It is very important that we stress to the students that this is not “play camp”, but a time to study in a different learning setting. The students are required to complete a nature workbook that involves not only identification of plant and animal species, but of various experiments and problem solving as well.
