St. Jude School Children’s Hospital Christmas Program

St Jude organizes a “Donations for Gift Baskets” drive at the school to deliver as many age specific Holiday baskets, in partnership with CHLA. The goal is to deliver items of need and toys that will bring joy to the entire families of young patients undergoing critical medical care and extended stays at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (and Ronald McDonald House of Los Angeles).  The items we will be collecting include (we will organize and make age specific baskets during the drive):

  • Coloring supplies, including generic coloring books and Crayola markers and colored pencils –- all sizes
  • Barbie dolls or other hard-body baby dolls (please no plush/soft-body dolls)
  • Dinosaurs, Legos, Superhero action figures
  • Kits for Arts & Crafts (including beads), Science, Medical play, Play-Doh (cans with no attachments)
  • Tabletop games – especially UNO cards and playing cards
  • UberEats / Doordash gift cards for parents

Our Purpose in Helping:

There is a saying in the hematology / oncology community: “if one person in the family is affected, everyone in the family is affected”. In addition to facing a scary medical diagnosis, there is the tremendous financial burden which families have to bear, while at the same time taking care of the other children who are all dramatically impacted by the illness. This drive aims to show how St Jude School cares and wants to bring smiles to the entire families, and let them know they are loved, prayed for, and cared for. For anyone who has experienced the exceptional healing care of the medical professionals at this hospital, or know someone who has, we hope to funnel that gratitude into this initiative.

How You Can Help:

You can drop off toys, gift cards and donations to the front of the school. We will have bins at the front of the school for you to drop your UNWRAPPED donation.

The collection drive starts December 1st and we will deliver the gift bags  to CHLA on the 14th of December.
